Role Overview

nao Labs is seeking a Founding Software Engineer to help build the future of data teams' experience. We are an early-stage startup working on an open-source AI agent for data analytics, a first product that is already used by over 100 data teams. We are backed by Y Combinator and STATION F.

Responsibilities

  • Own and build across the entire stack: frontend, backend, and AI features.
  • Design and ship core systems powering nao, including agentic workflows for data work and intuitive UIs for chat-based analytics.
  • Shape product roadmap by translating user feedback and company goals into technical and product decisions.
  • Collaborate daily with the founders in a small, fast-moving team.
  • Contribute to building the future of nao's tech team.

Requirements

  • Experience building and shipping a product end-to-end.
  • Hands-on experience building agentic systems.
  • Strong product instinct, with a care for UX and design quality.
  • Willingness to join an early-stage startup and build tech and team from scratch.
  • Readiness to work independently, ship fast, make decisions, and own outcomes.
  • Familiarity with React, Typescript, Node.js, Python, Vercel, OpenAI, and Anthropic.
