About Tandem

Tandem is the leading global language learning community, where millions of members from over 200 countries practice languages together. The concept of learning from each other is not only an essential part of the Tandem community but also shapes our daily work. Through this shared connection, we help each other grow and enrich the language learning journeys of our members. With Tandem DeutschConnect, we are running an EU-funded project that supports people in learning German as a foreign language (DaF) and integrating into German society. A central part of this initiative is building and maintaining strong partnerships with institutions, organizations, and volunteers that enable language learning and integration.

Your Responsibilities:

As a Sales Manager for Tandem DeutschConnect, you will be responsible for building and maintaining partnerships with educational institutions and further developing our community, alongside a Junior Partner Manager.

Main Responsibilities

Responsibility & Performance

  1. Independently achieve monthly and quarterly partnership and growth goals (e.g., number of active partners, redemption of invitation codes, app usage via partners).
  2. Full responsibility for results – from pipeline generation through closing partnerships to activation and ongoing performance.
  3. Close monitoring of performance, identifying gaps, and proactively adjusting strategy and execution to achieve or exceed goals.
  4. Building scalable processes and playbooks for continuous improvement of efficiency and results.

Outreach & Partnerships

  1. Proactive identification, prioritization, and acquisition of partners in areas such as integration course providers, language schools, job centers, student services, and university language centers offering German as a foreign language courses.
  2. Managing the entire sales cycle from A to Z: prospecting, outreach, pitching, negotiation, and closing.
  3. Clear communication of the added value of Tandem DeutschConnect across all channels (email, phone, in-person, and online meetings) with a strong focus on conversion.

Training & Onboarding

  1. Conducting effective training for teachers and institutional partners to ensure they understand how to redeem invitation codes and successfully integrate Tandem into their programs.
  2. Ensuring fast and effective onboarding that leads to immediate usage and measurable results.
  3. Actively tracking partner activation and engagement, and intervening in case of below-average performance.

Relationship Management

  1. Independently maintaining a high-quality and up-to-date pipeline of prospects and active partners in the CRM.
  2. Acting as the primary point of contact for partners with a strong focus on increasing usage, retention, and expansion.
  3. Regularly reviewing partner performance and identifying growth opportunities per account (more users, deeper integration, additional programs).
  4. Clearly setting expectations with partners when necessary to ensure mutual success.

You are the right person for this role if you:

  • Have native-level German proficiency or business-level fluency in German.
  • Have a background in sales, partnerships, or working with non-profit organizations.
  • Have experience with sales tools, project management, or CRM systems.
  • Are proactive in reaching out to people and confident in written and verbal communication.
  • Possess a friendly, open personality and a talent for building relationships.
  • Have strong intercultural communication skills and enjoy working with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds.
