Role Overview

The Student Health & Well-Being (SHW) cluster promotes health and well-being for students, delivering high-quality services and fostering inclusivity. The UC San Diego SHW cluster plays a leadership role in creating a strong wellness culture.

Responsibilities

  1. Enhance the organization's technical infrastructure.
  2. Provide project management, analytical support, and leadership for strategic goal planning.
  3. Plan, design, and manage all information technology (IT) for the clinical and business technical infrastructure and operations of several departments.
  4. Provide comprehensive database, network, hardware, software, and security support.
  5. Develop data specifications and design, build, and maintain relational and non-relational databases.
  6. Serve as UCSD SHW HIPAA and FERPA Security Officer.
  7. Manage IT projects, perform systems analysis, and provide user resources and training.
  8. Oversee servers, desktop computer systems, laptops, student kiosk systems, and other clinical and business interface systems.
  9. Submit incident reports to report near-misses, process problems, or patient or employee injury events. Attend required trainings and refreshers. 10.Demonstrate professionalism in attire, attitude, conversation, behavior, and attentiveness to others. Uphold UCSD Principles of Community and promote a positive and collaborative team environment. Adhere to University Core Values & Safety Standards of performance and UCSD Health Medical Center (C.A.R.I.N.G.) Standards of Performance.
  10. Use discretion, maintain utmost confidentiality, and comply with all requirements in using computer systems and accessing patient, student, employee, and University data in compliance with University, state, and federal guidelines, including HIPAA and FERPA.

Requirements

  1. Seven years of experience in a related area or a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus three years of related experience.
  2. Broad knowledge of various areas of IT.
  3. Advanced skills in programming design, modification, and implementation.
  4. Basic knowledge of secure software development and ability to create software specifications.
  5. Ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems.
  6. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server, and peripherals-related issues.
  7. Experience in incident response and digital forensics.
  8. Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions.
  9. Knowledge of technology and systems design, development, and application to meet business needs.
  10. Demonstrated experience with database administration, including working knowledge of database management systems and standards.
  11. Advanced database querying and modeling skills.
  12. Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion.
  13. Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices, and policies.
  14. Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
  15. Ability to write technical documentation clearly and concisely.
  16. Comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, users, and related functions.
  17. Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements.
  18. Interpersonal skills to work with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  19. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information clearly and concisely.
  20. Ability to work independently and as part of a team; demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  21. Ability to foster a positive and welcoming climate and value, include, and support all in the UC San Diego community.
